Neighbors Going in Different Directions
For much of their history Argentina and Uruguay have been linked. Maybe it was their passion for the pampas, meat, futbol, and a host of other items that form a common bond between them.
However, economically speaking, things could not be much more different. Recently, the Council on Hemispheric Affiars (COHA), highlighted some of these differences as Uruguay seems to be gaining the upper hand in attracting investment while Argentina continue to manage its economy on the whims of its politicians.
Just as the recent success of its futbol team perhaps little Uruguay can escape the shadow of its larger and more famous neighbor.
